A 60-year-old man from the capital has disappeared in the Pernik village of Divotino. The man is a tourist.
He was last seen in the village, where he left his car, on June 19. He has been declared a local wanted man, the police announced.
"After the tourist who had set off for Lyulin Mountain did not return home and did not answer the phone calls, a signal was filed with the police. Actions were immediately taken to search for him," said Ventsislav Aleksov, the regional spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Pernik, quoted by the Bulgarian National Radio.
"A headquarters has been formed. Groups have been formed to search the area. A service dog, drones, and thermal cameras were used last night and now. So we are working extremely actively," he added.
The search covers the entire area around the village - both towards the mountain and towards the dam in the neighboring village of Meshtitsa.
"Several groups have been formed and each is working in a specific direction," added Aleksov.
