Georgi Harizanov: Vasil Terziev took Kiril Petkov's head - 1

Instead of hurting, harming in some way the ruling majority and the government, the votes of no confidence continue to do it a favor, demonstrating to the small opposition parties in parliament and to the entire society how big and solid the majority actually is. This was said by political analyst Georgi Harizanov in the program "Bulgaria, Europe and the World in Focus" on Radio "Focus".

The problems in the government's fiscal policy are certainly getting bigger, he said, pointing out that they are not from today and have been developing backwards in time and with the participation of several governments. "The question, when we turn to the pragmatics of politics, is: first, who criticizes him and what did he do when he was in power, and second, whether those who criticize are more than those who support, and at the moment this is clearly not the case," he said and gave an example of the raging scandal with the PP-DB, which concerns the topic of corruption and it is obvious to everyone that "the thief shouts: catch the thief" and other people are recruiting in Sofia.

The political analyst expressed bewilderment why Mayor Vasil Terziev has not resigned and gone to new elections so far to reject or reaffirm the trust in him by the citizens. "Vasil Terziev's inability to build a team, to lead this team, to respect this team, to manage this team, ultimately costs the party leadership of the leader of the party that supported him and actually made him mayor. Vasil Terziev took Kiril Petkov's head,“ he said categorically, adding that logic points to Terziev getting out of this job, which he is clearly not up to and which is clearly weighing heavily on him.

According to him, the failure to meet the revenue part of the budget will lead to an increase in the deficit, which is particularly critical at the moment because of the final right for Bulgaria to enter the eurozone. “When unrealistic revenues are planned, when revenues are seriously overstated for a number of reasons and expenditures are seriously inflated, and the new government adds to them new wage increases in the administrative sector, in the worst case scenario we will register a large deficit and the government will seek debt with which to finance this deficit.“ The good option, according to him, is to cut spending, which is not good for a number of reasons because of the possible successive cuts in capital spending.

According to Harizanov, frequent votes of no confidence in the government are not taken seriously in foreign policy terms by Bulgaria's partners. "Unfortunately, an otherwise very important and serious parliamentary instrument is being devalued, devalued, ruined, destroyed, which in previous years used to make governments stand on their toes, there were very serious parliamentary debates, there was a lot of heavy criticism from the opposition. The whole thing was with another class, and now this class is silent. And partners abroad who are interested in Bulgaria have understood this a long time ago.“

According to the analyst, there will be no early parliamentary elections if the current configuration of the ruling majority is maintained. When compared to the votes of the three main parties participating in the government – GERB-SDF, BSP - United Left and ITN, and those of Peevski's MRF are added, then, according to him, the number becomes extremely solid. "In this sense, the fact that yet another additional partner in the person of Delyan Peevski, of this otherwise solid and stable government, says that he does not want new elections, makes the chance for new elections extremely minimal.“
