Slavi Vassilev: What supports the government is the lack of an alternative - 1

„Surely among these 4,400 properties there are some that are no longer necessary. But the story is interesting how on the last working day, the deputies amended the State Property Law, which the president vetoed, and the changes there that the National Assembly adopted are striking. First, there was a prohibitive list of enterprises and properties that cannot be sold without a decision of the National Assembly. However, the Council of Ministers tried, through their majority in the National Assembly, to ease the procedure for selling such properties. In addition, the procedure for selling these properties is being transferred from the Council of Ministers to the regional governors and the local administration, so that the gentlemen from the ruling majority can wash their hands of them.”

This was stated by Slavi Vassilev, a political scientist, to Nova TV.

„All doubts and fears that are being talked about and which are skillfully used by President Radev are always treated with maximum transparency. The president's caretaker governments have done a good job with the sale of state properties”, is the opinion of political analyst Georgi Harizanov.

„What transparency is there when the MRDPW uploads the list and then takes it down? When the majority facilitates the procedure for selling these assets?”, asked Vassilev.

„The withdrawal of this list is a serious communication mistake. The society must have 24-hour access to this information in order not to be demagogued. It is not ruled out that the budget will be filled in this way and someone somewhere will get rich. That is why there is the community, that is why there are the media. When President Radev says that the rush for the euro has emptied the budget – how?”, commented Harizanov for his part.

Vassilev does not see to what extent things will be destabilized for there to be elections: “By January 1, the majority will be the same. The question is not whether there will be elections, but if there are and if the menu is the same, what can we expect. What supports the government is the lack of an alternative.”

According to Harizanov, Borisov certainly does not like the conversation about Peevski. Certainly, for the fifth government that GERB is creating, he is in a coalition that he does not like.

„Peevski is unavoidable”, Vassilev also commented.

„I do not sympathize with Peevski, I did not vote for „New Beginning”. The fact is that in the no-confidence votes, MRF-NN voted for the government to remain. This is a coalition against new elections. It is colorful and yes, „New Beginning” is part of it”, Harizanov added.
