The Committee for Direct Participation of Citizens, Complaints and Interaction with Civil Society will hold a hearing of the candidate for Deputy Ombudsman Maria Filipova on September 2 at 4:00 p.m. This is reported on the website of the National Assembly, quoted by novini.bg.
They indicate that Filipova's candidacy was submitted by Ombudsman Velislava Delcheva on August 18, 2025, and as of now the Committee has sent letters requesting official checks of the candidate for Deputy Ombudsman regarding citizenship, criminal record and belonging to the State Security and intelligence services.
The parliament explains that, as with the election of the Ombudsman, now, there is an opportunity for non-governmental organizations and the media to ask questions that the candidate for Deputy Ombudsman will answer during the hearing. Questions and opinions will be accepted by the Commission no later than three days before the hearing, the National Assembly adds.
