A 55-year-old man is in danger of death after falling from a cliff in a quarry for the extraction of facing materials near the village of Gorna Kremena, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Vratsa reported in its daily bulletin, quoted by BTA. The victim was taken to a capital hospital, having previously been examined at the multi-profile hospital in Vratsa.

A report of the incident was received yesterday, September 6, at the Mezdra Regional Police Department. During an inspection of the scene, police officers found that a 55-year-old worker from the village of Tishevitsa had fallen from a cliff about 7-8 meters high after being hit by a moving arm of a drill operated by a quarry worker. The victim was treated by an emergency team from Mezdra and admitted to the Vratsa hospital for treatment in a generally serious condition, in shock, with fractures of the hip joint, rib and trauma to the left kidney, the police said. He was later taken to a capital hospital.

The quarry for the extraction of rock facing materials is located on the land of the village of Gorna Kremena and is managed by a concessionaire from the village of Koprivlen, Blagoevgrad region. The mayor of the village of Gorna Kremena, Tsvetomir Draganovski, told BTA that four quarries operate on the land of the village. There is no information about this specific case.

A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into the case, and the Labor Inspectorate has also been notified, the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Vratsa added.
