After years of discussion, the measurement of average speed on the roads in our country is now a fact. For over 30 hours now, the TOLL system cameras have been detecting the speed of passing cars.
The control began with 22 sections, and in the first hours alone, the violators were nearly 1,400. Most of them were committed on the Dolni Dubnik section – Telish, bTV specifies.
In addition to average speed, TOL cameras have been detecting driving in the emergency lane for 2 months now, and in case of a violation, drivers are notified via an electronic ticket in the usual way.
Car racer Dimitar Iliev described the newly introduced measures as good and said he expects them to have an educational effect.
„I am glad that this thing was introduced, but it will not solve the problems with road safety. Unfortunately, the victims and seriously injured on the roads happen exactly on the kind of road we are on at the moment - suburban roads. The reason is that there is no traffic separation, it is very easy to enter the oncoming lane and end up in a head-on collision,“ he said.
