The head of the Sofia 5th District Police Department, Plamen Maximov, remains under house arrest. This was decided by the Court of Appeal in Veliko Tarnovo, BNT reported.
The measure was imposed by the Lovech District Court, but today this decision was appealed by the prosecutor's office. Maximov is accused of participating in an organized crime group for arson, racketeering and drug distribution, operating in Sofia and Lovech.
After nearly 7 hours of deliberation, the appeals judges also placed one of the men accused of being the leaders of the gang - Rosen Krastev - Stuklarya - under house arrest with an electronic bracelet.
The second police officer, who is also among the accused, is currently being considered for house arrest.
The appeals court must decide whether to change the measures for the other two detainees in the case, which is expected to happen late at night.
