Sofia city council refused to release Krasimira Trifonova from custody, accused of the murder of Peyo Peev, BTA reports. The former diplomat, together with her daughter Gabriela, are accused of the death of the man who was her son-in-law.
Trifonova said through tears that she did not participate in the murder and is innocent.
"On the day of the murder, I was walking my dog. She was my neighbor. She was detained for 30 hours without a lawyer. I listened to my daughter's screams. I was threatened that she would be killed. I have been in custody for four months and no action is being taken against me. I suffer from epilepsy, asthma and cardiovascular disease," Trifonova told the court.
The prosecutor's office stated that there is sufficient evidence that Gabriela Peeva's mother was involved in the murder of Peyo Peev.
The investigation determined that the man was sitting in the driver's seat of a car. The cause of death is strangulation, experts say. The car with the corpse of the murdered man was found slightly burnt in a wooded area, in the Vitosha region, on the way to the "Aleko" hut.
The murder happened at the end of January.
