The customs officers of “Captain Andreevo” discovered cocaine worth over BGN 1 million, the "Customs" Agency reports. They found more than 3 kg of the substance during an inspection of a truck leaving the country. Employees of the "Customs" Agency, DG "Combating Organized Crime", DG "Border Police" participated in the operation. and the National Revenue Agency in order to combat smuggling, adds Nova TV.
On July 11, during an inspection of a truck with Turkish registration and driven by a Turkish citizen traveling from the Netherlands to Turkey, three packages were found in the refrigerator of the driver's cabin. The packets were between the foods. When one of the packages was opened, a white powdery substance was found, which, in a field test, reacted positively to cocaine. The total amount of cocaine found and seized was 3,240 grams, worth BGN 1,018,656, estimated for the needs of the judicial system.
During the inspection, the driver tried to escape in the direction of Turkey, being detained by the customs officers. In the case, a pre-trial proceeding was initiated by an investigating customs inspector under the supervision of the District Prosecutor's Office – Haskovo.
