The case for the murder of Evgenia Chorbanova, in which her husband Orlin Vladimirov and his father are accused Plamen, was postponed to October 22, due to a member of the judicial panel falling ill.
Orlin and Plamen Vladimirovi were sentenced at first instance to life imprisonment, but the sentence was appealed and now the case is being considered by the Appellate Court – Sofia.
Today, the case had to be examined by an appointed expertise, which aims to establish the mechanism of the murder and the causes of the woman's death. The expertise was requested by the defense of the two defendants. It is expected that after the examination, the parties will proceed to their pleadings and the court will issue a decision.
The desire of the defense of the killers is to present the case as a ridiculous domestic incident, Andrey Chorbanov, Evgenia's father, told the media. There are no signs of a blow to the back of her neck at all, she was showered and stuffed in a suitcase, said the mother, Kapka Chorbanova.
According to her, Plamen Vladimirov is free on BGN 5,000 bail, although he has a life sentence because he was ill. According to the parents, a fair sentence would be life in prison without parole.
