A 36-year-old man from Stara Zagora has been charged with two counts of domestic violence, the prosecutor's office announced.
The acts were committed between January 19 and 20, when he caused moderate bodily harm to a 36-year-old woman and unlawfully deprived her of her liberty by keeping her locked up against her will in an apartment in the city.
The man and the injured woman lived as a family. For a long time, he had been subjecting her to mental and physical abuse, and the cases have recently become more frequent.
On January 19, he started arguing with the woman, after which he inflicted numerous blows on her body. He locked her up and kept her in their apartment for more than two days, during which he also beat her.
A report has been filed with the police. The woman has been admitted to a hospital, where she is currently being treated. The accused has been detained for 72 hours, and a request for permanent arrest is pending.
