Over 200 contraband vials of botulinum toxin from South Korea were seized by customs officers from Sofia Customs during a shipment inspection.
Employees from the “Customs Intelligence and Investigation“ department at Sofia Customs conducted a physical inspection of a shipment with declared contents of key chains and towels.
Inside the declared goods, customs officers found a total of 274 packages manufactured by a pharmaceutical company in South Korea. Each of the packages contains one glass injection vial with a white powdery substance for intramuscular injection with a declared quantity of 200 units.
The contraband products are described on the packaging and the leaflet as botulinum toxin, indicating the application of the preparation, including a warning about contraindications, but all the information is only in a foreign language.
Part of the toxin has been sent for laboratory analysis to the Central Customs Laboratory of the “Customs“ Agency, in order to establish the exact content of the solution and whether it corresponds to the description of the vials.
The work on the case continues. An act establishing an administrative violation under the Customs Law will be drawn up for the violation of the customs regime.
