Uniform officers from the Pazardzhik and Peshtera departments detained a daring fugitive with a jeep after a chase, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced. The man was admitted to the hospital in Pazardzhik after being slightly injured in the chase.
On the evening of May 13, a report was filed about a suspicious jeep on the road between the village of Glavinitsa and the regional town. A few days earlier, the driver of the same vehicle had thwarted a police check, managed to escape and hide. A patrol spotted the car.
Light and sound signals were given to the driver to stop, but he did not obey the orders and continued at high speed. The police followed him, and additional patrol cars from the departments in Pazardzhik, Peshtera and the regional directorate were sent to help.
During the fugitive's risky driving, attempting to push the company car off the road, the law enforcement agencies initially fired warning shots into the air.
However, the driver was not impressed and continued at an even higher speed, endangering both the police and other road users with his daring behavior on the road.
To stop him, the uniformed officers shot at the rear of the jeep and the tires. The man abandoned the jeep in the land of the Bratsigovo village of Isperihovo and hid.
The perimeter has been surrounded and a search has begun. In it, in addition to officers of the "Security Police" their colleagues from the "Road" and "Criminal" police, a tracking dog and a drone also joined in.
After several hours of search operations, near a railway station near the Pazardzhik village of Sinitovo, the police caught the fugitive - a 31-year-old man from the Pazardzhik village of Debrashtitsa.
He is a criminal, with numerous criminal records and convictions. He also turned out to be an unlicensed driver, and the license plates of the jeep were stolen from another car.
The case is being investigated under the supervision of the prosecutor's office.
