The panel of the Ruse District Court found the 44-year-old man guilty of the intentional murder of his acquaintance in the village of Yudelnik on February 5, 2024. This was announced by the District Prosecutor's Office in the Danube city.
The prosecution specified that the accused was sentenced to “life imprisonment without parole“. The civil claims filed in the case were also fully upheld. The verdict is subject to appeal before the Court of Appeal – Veliko Tarnovo.
The perpetrator was detained in the hours after the act. The crime was committed under the conditions of “dangerous recidivism“. The act was committed after the perpetrator in August 2022 had served a sentence of 13 years “imprisonment“ for another murder committed in 2009.
The prosecutor's office indicated that the murderer and the victim knew each other and were on good terms. However, this was broken after a loan of 42 leva, which the 44-year-old man gave to the victim in January 2024 with the condition that it be returned in a short period of time. After consuming a significant amount of alcohol on February 5, 2024 at the victim's home, they started an argument that escalated into an exchange of fists and ended with several stab wounds by the guest, some of which to the neck.
As a result of the serious bodily injuries caused to him and the acute loss of blood, the man died. The 44-year-old man then tried unsuccessfully to get money, left, and told another person that the host had felt sick. The witness went to the victim's home, saw the body, and notified the Ministry of Interior, the indictment further states.
