Actor Anthony Hopkins, who is a two-time winner of the "Oscar" award, will be reincarnated in the image of the baroque composer Georg Friedrich Handel in a new film, announced the electronic publication Deadline, quoted by BTA.
The production is entitled "The King of Covent Garden".
The film, billed by its creators as "a majestic celebration of genius that breaks all the rules to create an anthem that inspires the imagination of global audiences", will be released in late fall 2025.
Directed by Andrew Levitas ("The Mine"), written by Tim Slover.
"Hopkins and Handel are masters of their craft and together they create a joyous and uplifting cinematic event," says Tim Haslam of Embankment Films.
The choir "Hallelujah" from the oratorio "Messiah" of Hedel, "is the most performed worldwide,", he adds. According to him, the work is present in many iconic entertainments - from "Lifeguards on the Beach" to "The Simpsons", from "Runaway Bride" to "The Miser".
"Over 5 million people watched the performance of "Messiah" only at the "Royal Albert Hall". There are more than 800 performances a year in the US. "Handel's music has been performed at every coronation of a British monarch since King George II," added Haslam.
For the filming of the film, Anthony Hopkins once again worked with Embankment Films, after his role in "The Father" he won his second "Oscar".
