Dave Coulier, actor and comedian who rose to fame as Uncle Joey in “Full House”, revealed that he was diagnosed with blood cancer five weeks ago, CNN reported.
Coulier shared the news Wednesday during an interview on the “Today” show.
„During that time I had three surgeries, I was on chemotherapy, I lost some hair,” he said, patting his head. “I kind of look like a bird now, but it sure was a roller coaster ride.“
„The appearance of this growing lymphoma in my groin area was very fast, so I was like, 'Something's wrong, I've got a golf ball down here,'" he said. "The Ball" is removed, a biopsy is done and the bad news shines. "You have B-cell lymphoma, we need to put you on chemotherapy immediately,” the doctors said.
According to the American Cancer Society, non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is one of the most common types of cancer in the United States.
The actor said he was home alone when he got the news, and when he told his wife Melissa the tests had found cancer, she told him to “stop joking”.
Fortunately, Coulier said, his bone marrow examination showed no metastases.
„At this stage, the curability rate is over 90%”, specified the actor, who is preparing for a second round of chemotherapy.
