On December 21, the Orthodox Church honors Saint Juliana.
She was the daughter of noble pagan parents. From an early age she was betrothed to Eleusius – also from a noble family and a pagan.
When she grew up, Juliana believed in the true God and refused to link her fate with an idolater. She did not want to return to paganism, for which her father beat her severely, and finally brought her to court. They threw her into prison and tortured her. With fervent prayer and unearthly help, Juliana overcame physical pain. She was eventually beheaded.
In addition to today, people with these names also have an occasion to celebrate on July 16, which is the Orthodox feast day of the martyr Julia.
Today, Julian, Juliana, Julian and Juliana celebrate their name day.
