Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, hosted its third annual competition for corgi dogs. The event attracted thousands of spectators to Vingis Park, which is the largest open space in the city, reports “Reuters”, quoted by NOVA.

The competition featured more than 100 Welsh Pembrokes and Cardigan Corgis from across Europe taking part in a costume competition, a sprint competition and a 50m race.

The park organizes a track near a stadium, providing 6,000 seats for spectators to watch the races.

The event started with a costume contest where the corgis appeared in different outfits and were judged by a live public vote. In the 50 meter race, the dogs were ranked by weight.

Event organizer Edwinas Miskas disproved the common belief that corgis can't run fast because of their short legs. He said corgi dogs are agile and athletic because the breed was originally developed to herd cattle.
