The preference for large penises, which many women talk about, often hides their insecurities. This was stated by psychotherapist Pamela Stevenson Connolly in her column for The Guardian.
He responded to a letter from a man who was worried about the physical parameters of his intimate organ.
The author of the letter said that he had recently met a woman who, during correspondence, shared that she liked large penises. “I felt very hesitant and told her so. She replied: “It's just a preference“, he added.
The man specified that he and his partner had not yet had penetrative sex, but had already practiced other types of intimacy. According to him, the woman assured him that his penis was big enough, but the very thought of his partner preferring a larger size depressed the letter writer.
“She says she doesn't understand why she told me that and she's sorry, but I can't forget it.“ “I feel like I should end the relationship, but I have strong feelings for her“, he concluded.
In response, Connolly noted that the woman could indeed have admitted her affinity for large penises for no particular reason and suggested that this was dictated by her own insecurities. “Trying to connect with someone new online or over the phone can cause a lot of anxiety, so some people pretend to be something they're not. When a woman talks about “loving big penises”, it's usually – consciously or not – "It's an attempt to gain power from a sense of weakness, so it would be wise to try to ignore it," Connolly explained.
However, the therapist advises the two of them to have a careful but frank conversation about the issue to discuss their insecurities.
