It is not a problem at all that a current president /supposedly/ will join the political battle.
On the contrary, it is normal. Even more so considering that politics in Bulgaria is a very lucrative occupation for all sorts of individuals, who, left without political power, seem to lose their meaning.

Also, the current president quite extensively "manages" the real executive branch, and as is likely – and benefits from it.
So his involvement in the political battle is something completely normal. The man has a high rating, almost double that of the next one. There is also a desire and opportunities and people /probably numerous/ eager to see him on the political scene.
Then why is everyone dealing with this, as if there is something wrong.
Well, because it is wrong.
First - leaving the presidential institution with an unfulfilled mandate is completely wrong, at least for the sensible part of society. For the people who voted for him to do one thing, he is rushing to do something completely different.
Second - the feeling that the taste of using the executive power to its full extent has become too sweet for the president, while for nearly three years due to the coincidence of political circumstances, and also due to some shortcomings of the Bulgarian constitution, it is increasing in more and more people.
But the most important thing is the third.
Parachuting.
Well, it is not very right.
Because people who participate in political life are obliged, sometimes for years, to “build” their political profile, to face the verdict of society and to try to create their image. Not that a large part of them are not like in a bad comedy or are not completely ridiculous. But still, such is the logic of the political process – you present yourself to society, it evaluates you and gives you a political task.
The landing in politics of persons to whom society has “assigned” a different task and has voted trust in them to carry out other plans is an action with an element of parachuting. It is not that in world politics there are no examples of various “stars” – mostly from show and sports business /or kings/ who have become political figures. Some with success, some rather - not.
The president's justification for not following the obligatory political path will be that he has to save the nation.
“Parachuting” has this defect that it does not present to the public either the ideology, the company, or even the creed of the parachutist.
Because he descends, in this case from the wings of the black swan and lands right in the center of political life.
And of course, he is happy about it. Because in the political battle, the less they know about your intentions, the larger the circle of people who support you.
And when the request is to simply be a savior, then the numerous slaves waiting for theirs are ready to embrace you immediately.
It is another matter that it is not the savior who is to blame for this, but the slave...
