Former two-time world champion Ricky Hatton was found dead at his home in Manchester, England, the Manchester Evening News reported, MMA.bg.

A police report says there are currently no suspicious circumstances. Hatton, a British boxing icon popular around the world, was 46 years old.

Hatton won the IBF super lightweight world title in 2005, defeating future Hall of Famer Kostya Tszyu by knockout in the 11th round in front of a raucous home crowd in Manchester. He also won the WBA lightweight title against Luis Collazo in 2006. Hatton faced some of the best boxers of his generation, including Kostya Tszyu, Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

Following his loss to Pacquiao, Hatton retired from the sport, returning to face Vyacheslav Senchenko in late 2012, where he held a points lead before being stopped with a ninth-round stomach kick. Hatton announced another retirement after that fight, saying he needed "one more fight" to see if he still had the strength for the ring.

"The Hitman" was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in the class of 2024. His record was 45-3 (32 knockouts). Hatton was open about his mental health and addiction issues in his life and remained popular with boxing fans in retirement.
