Carlos Alcaraz splits with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero - 1

World number 1 in tennis Carlos Alcaraz has split with his coach Juan Carlos Ferrero after a 7-year partnership, reported „Marca“.

The 22-year-old Spaniard won six Grand Slam titles during his partnership with Ferrero and during that time has spent 50 weeks at the top of the men's world rankings.

„Today is a difficult day. One of those when it's hard to find the right words. Saying „goodbye“ is never easy, especially when there are so many shared experiences. We worked hard, grew together and shared unforgettable moments. I want to thank you for the time, the trust and the learning, but above all for the people who surrounded me along the way. "The road," the Spaniard wrote on his Instagram profile.

“I take with me the laughter, the challenges overcome, the conversations, the support in difficult moments and the pleasure of having been part of something truly unique. Today I end a very important stage in my life. I close it with nostalgia, but also with pride and excitement for what is to come. I know that everything I have experienced has prepared me to be better“, he added.

During his career as a player between 1998 and 2012, Juan Carlos Ferrero reached world number 1 in 2003 after winning "Roland Garros" and reaching the final of the US Open.

Alcaraz remains coached by his compatriot Samuel López, who joined his team in 2024 after nine years worked with Pablo Carreno Busta.

Polish tennis player Iga Swiontek commented on the possibility of winning the Grand Slam tournaments in her career. The only thing she lacks to achieve this is a victory at the Australian Open.

“I don't set such goals for myself. Of course, it's something I dream about and something I want to achieve one day, but I'm not going to come to Melbourne and think about it every day. I know I have to win seven matches, and the Grand Slam tournaments last two weeks, a lot of things can happen“, Swiontek told Clay Tennis.

Swiontek has already won three “Roland Garros“ titles (2020, 2022, 2023), three US Open titles (2022, 2023, 2025) and one Wimbledon title (2025). Her best results at the Australian Open were reaching the semifinals in 2022 and 2025.
