Ivan Ivanov has been named the 2025 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior World Champion.
He thus became the first Bulgarian tennis player to win the ITF World Champion award in this category.
Ivanov won the junior singles titles at both Wimbledon and the US Open, becoming the first player to win two Grand Slam trophies in one season since Sun Chun-Shin in 2018. Ivanov also became only the second Bulgarian tennis player to win a Grand Slam title at junior level after Grigor Dimitrov.
At junior level, Ivanov triumphed with first place at a J300 tournament in France and finished second at the J500 tournament in Milan (Italy). In May, Ivanov also won his first title at a men's tournament in Hungary, and in September he made his Davis Cup debut in Bulgaria's victory over Finland.
Kristina Penichkova (USA) was chosen as the number 1 ranked girl's player this year.
Arina Sabalenka and Yannick Siner were declared ITF world champions in women's and men's singles, respectively. Both Sabalenka and Siner received the prestigious award for the second time. Sabalenka added a second accolade after 2023, while Sinner became the first player to be named men's singles world champion in two consecutive years since Novak Djokovic won the award five years in a row from 2011 to 2015.
The prestigious annual awards recognize 11 players in different categories. The 2025 world champions will receive their awards at a ceremony in 2026.
ITF President David Haggerty congratulated the winners.
„Congratulations to all of our 2025 ITF world champions. It has been another incredible year for tennis, with so many great moments across the Grand Slams, tournaments and our team events. The 11 players we are honouring today have enjoyed great seasons and we are confident they will continue to shine in 2026. We wish these and all tennis players a peaceful preparation period and good luck next year," he said.
