World golf star Tiger Woods was arrested on charges of drunk driving after his "Land Rover" overturned on a two-lane road near his home on Juniper Island, near Palm Beach, Florida, Reuters reported, citing the Martin County Sheriff's Office, BTA reports.
Woods was speeding past a work truck pulling a trailer when he hit the rear of it, causing his car to overturn, Sheriff John Budensick said at a news conference.
Woods, 50, escaped through the passenger door before police arrived. According to the Martin County Sheriff's Office, Woods showed signs of distress at the scene and was taken into custody.
A breathalyzer test conducted at the Martin County Jail did not show any traces of alcohol, and investigators believe his impaired driving was related to the use of drugs or medication.
Woods refused to submit to a urine test, which is considered a separate charge under Florida law. No further information was released on Woods' injuries or the condition of the driver of the other vehicle.
Woods has been charged with driving under the influence, causing property damage and refusing to submit to a test required by law - all misdemeanors. Under Florida law, he must remain in custody for at least eight hours before being released on bail.
