The European champion in the 100 meters for girls under 18 Radina Velichkova won a second medal of the continental championship in Banska Bistrica (Slovakia), after taking bronze in the long jump, reports BTA.
Velichkova reached 6.16 meters, which is her tied personal record for the year. The Plovdiv woman was behind only Evelina Olsen (Sweden) with 6.35 and Joana Fiodorovaite (Lithuania) – 6.23 who finished the race in personal bests.
Veličkova had problems with her technique and run, as in the qualifiers, but managed to reach 6.16 in the second attempt and made another jump over 6 meters with 6.15 in the fifth round. The personal record of the graduate of coach Iva Pranjeva is 6.29 from 2023.
In Banska Bistrica, Velichkova competed in six races (heats, semi-finals and final of 100 meters, qualifications and final of long jump, as well as first place in the 100-200-300-400 m relay).
With Radina Velichkova's two medals (gold in 100 meters and bronze in long jump), Dimo Andreev's silver in hammer and Hristiyan Kasabov's bronze in 110 meters hurdles, Bulgaria is in the top 10 in Europe in the medal table before the afternoon session, where Zinga Firmino Barbosa will participate in the junior triple jump final.
