Adriana Ruano Oliva made history with the first Olympic gold medal she brought to her country Guatemala, BTA reported.
The 29-year-old athlete triumphed in the final of the trap event of the hunting shooting at the Paris Games.
Oliva won the final with 45 points, which is a new Olympic record, improving the previous achievement of Slovakia's Zuzana Štefečeková of 43 points from the Tokyo 2020 Games.
The silver went to Italian Silvana Maria Stanko with 40 points, and third was Penny Smith from Australia with 32 points.
Tokyo Olympic champion Zuzana Štefečeková finished in 12th place at the shooting range in Châteauroux.
The title Oliva's is Guatemala's third Olympic medal, following Jean-Pierre Cárdenas' bronze in the same men's event yesterday and Eric Barondo's silver in the race walk at London 2012.
Ruano Oliva, 29, began her athletic career as a competitive rhythmic gymnast and represented Guatemala at the 2010 Pan American Games. But a spinal injury the following year ended that career, and she later switched to hunting, where her greatest success to date was the Pan American Games trap title last year.
