Manchester City advanced to the third round of the FA Cup with an 8-0 thrashing of fourth-tier Salford at home, BTA reports. Salford, co-owned by Manchester United legends David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Nicky Butt, failed to hold their own against the Premier League champions at the Etihad. James McKee scored a hat-trick in the second half, while Divine Mubama and Nico O'Reilly also scored for the hosts.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Brighton, Bournemouth and Leicester also made it through to the FA Cup third round.

Leeds United, without injured Bulgarian international Iliya Gruev, moved on in the tournament after a narrow 1-0 win at Harrowgate. Larji Ramazani scored for the Second Division side in the second half.

Stoke City beat Sunderland 2-1 away after Niall Ennis scored in the 22nd minute of extra time. Thomas Cannon gave the team an early lead, but 19-year-old Serbian Milan Aleksic equalised in the 64th minute.
