The best Bulgarian alpine skier Albert Popov finished 14th in the slalom of the World Cup in alpine skiing disciplines in the Austrian winter resort of Kitzbuhel, BTA reported.
Popov set a 17th time in the first run and with a good ride in the second found a place in the top 15 at 1:17 seconds behind the winner Clement Noel.
This is the fourth best ranking for the Bulgarian this season after the victory in Madonna di Campiglio and two more entries in the top 10 during the campaign. Frenchman Clement Noel was fourth after the first run, but managed to take the lead and win with a total time of 1:41.49 minutes.
This is Noel's 14th victory in his World Cup career. The leader after the first run, Timon Haugan (Norway), failed to finish the second. His compatriot Atle McGrath did the same, as did Swiss Loic Meyar. The second after the first run, Stephen Amiet from France, made a mistake and although he finished, he lost too much time and remained last, 27th.
The leader in the general World Cup standings remains Swiss Marco Odermatt with 1006 points. Second with 634 points is Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, who did not finish the first run of today's slalom, and third place with 542 points is occupied by Loic Meyar (Switzerland). Albert Popov is in seventh place in the Small Crystal Globe standings in the discipline with 279 points. Clement Noel came out on top with 464 points, followed by Henrik Kristoffersen with 435 points and Meyar with 370.
