The coach of the German national football team, Julian Nagelsmann, said he was happy with the team's 2-1 victory as a guest of Italy in the first match of the quarter-finals of the Nations League, BTA reported.
The 37-year-old coach is delighted with the fighting spirit of the team, which overcame a goal deficit.
"I am especially happy that we came back from 0-1 and won the match. We talked before the match that we wanted to win both matches," he said.
"The boys did really well. We could have scored more goals in the second half. The team showed desire and did everything to win," Nagelsmann commented.
The specialist praised Leon Goretzka and shared his expectations for the return match in Dortmund on Sunday.
"I'm very happy for him. I think he played a great game, especially in the second half, both in defense and with his presence in the penalty area. He influenced the game in both phases. It was a great performance," said the coach.
"We played an incredible match in Dortmund at Euro 2024 against Denmark, the support was great. I'm looking forward to the match in another big stadium. Our fans were loud here, I hope they'll be louder on Sunday," Nagelsmann concluded.
