There was no meeting between Vessela Lecheva and Stefka Kostadinova and the transfer of power in the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) today either, Topsport reported.
People in Lecheva's team revealed that communication between the two has been interrupted again, and that Bulgaria may be sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with exclusion from the Olympic movement because of the case.
The notarial invitation from the elected BOC chairperson Vessela Lecheva to Stefka Kostadinova to transfer power in the headquarters remained unanswered today. Neither Lecheva nor Kostadinova came to the BOC building, where Lecheva's proposed secretary general, Danail Dimov, was.
"What we did was a completely legal and legitimate attempt to ask Ms. Kostadinova to once again implement the decision of the general meeting of the executive bureau. Since all communication has been interrupted again, she made some promises to six people, the last time, including Ms. Lecheva. That man's word got lost somewhere along the way. Nothing happened," Dimov told BNT.
He said that Bulgaria could soon be punished by the decision of the IOC, which is monitoring the case with what is happening at the headquarters.
"Maybe it's a matter of life and death for Ms. Kostadinova. If so, let her speak and we'll think about it. Ultimately, we only wish her the best. "It could even lead to exclusion from the Olympic movement," Dimov fears.
