Yannick Sinner hopes to use the tournament in Halle (Germany) to recover from the sleepless nights and bad thoughts after the loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the final of “Roland Garros“, reports BTA.
Sinner took the first two sets and had three match points in the fourth, but the Spaniard Alcaraz made a turnaround with 4:6, 6:7(4), 6:4, 7:6(3), 7:6(10:2) in five hours and 29 minutes - the longest final of “Roland Garros“.
Asked if he thought about the championship points that he failed to realize, Sinner said: "Often. It happens. I think it's not the most important thing, but "However, I'm trying to forget the negative things and see what I can do here in Halle."
"For me, it's positive to play another tournament because every match is a new beginning and I have to be mentally ready to give my all on the court. That's why it's great to be able to be in Halle. Yes, I've already had a few sleepless nights, but I think every day is getting better," the Italian commented.
Sinner is the current champion in Halle and will defend his title at the tournament, which starts on Monday.
