Apple is in the spotlight again, but this time not because of innovations. Even before the official launch of sales of the new iPhone 17 series, it became clear that two of the most anticipated models - iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air - have a serious camera problem.
The first to notice the defects was Henry Casey from CNN, who had access to the new devices before everyone else. During a concert, he discovered that approximately one in ten photos taken with the iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air contained visible black artifacts and jagged white lines. The problem only appeared under very specific shooting conditions.
After an inquiry from CNN, Apple confirmed that the defects were caused by shooting large LED displays that emit light. Although the problem occurs under very specific conditions, the company said it is already working on a solution.
Apple said it is preparing a software update to fix the problem. Although an exact date has not been specified, the expectation is that the fix will be released soon, as the company has always emphasized the quality of its camera. Sales of the new iPhone 17 series start on September 19.
Given the importance of the camera to iPhone users, it seems unlikely that Apple will postpone the fix, even though the problem only occurs under very specific conditions.
