A company called Plaex introduced a new type of building bricks reminiscent of a children's constructor. The building blocks are made of recyclable materials, and their strength characteristics are higher than those of classic bricks.
The bricks are based on Plaex-crete, a composite made from more than 90% recycled plastic. The material is then crushed, goes through a cleaning procedure and passes through an extruder to produce a cement paste.
The finished blocks are 35% lighter than classic bricks of similar dimensions. The material is very impact resistant, but the main difference is that it can be assembled in a similar way to a LEGO construction set.
The company is now working on obtaining permits to build houses. Meanwhile, such material and blocks can be used for the construction of walls, storage rooms, as well as in landscape design. See more.
