A must in the heat: Maintain proper tire pressure for economy and safety - 1

In an effort to reduce fuel costs and ensure a safer journey, many drivers are looking for different ways to optimize the handling of their vehicle. One often underestimated but extremely important "trick" is regularly checking and maintaining the correct tire pressure. This can not only save you money, but also significantly improve road safety, especially during the summer months, when high temperatures affect pressure.

Many people do not realize that tires are the only point of contact between the car and the road, and that their condition directly affects all aspects of driving – from braking distance to fuel consumption. Insufficient tire pressure increases rolling resistance, which forces the engine to work harder and leads to increased fuel consumption. According to various studies, even slightly underinflated tires can increase fuel consumption by several percent.

In addition to the financial aspect, correct pressure is of critical importance for safety. Underinflated tires wear unevenly and faster, especially on the side edges. They also reduce the stability of the car, especially at high speeds or when cornering, and significantly increase braking distances. In high temperatures and prolonged driving, insufficient pressure can lead to overheating of the tire and even a blowout, which is extremely dangerous.

How to check the pressure?

Always check the pressure of "cold" tires, i.e. before driving or after the car has been stationary for at least a few hours. The correct pressure values are usually indicated on a sticker located on the inside of the driver's door, on the fuel tank cap or in the car's manual. Remember that these values may differ for front and rear tires, as well as when the vehicle is fully loaded.

Getting into the habit of checking your tire pressure at least once a month, and before long trips, is a simple but extremely effective trick. It will not only help you save money on fuel and extend the life of your tires, but most importantly - it will ensure a safer and more stable ride for you and your passengers.
