Polish President Karol Nawrocki has asked the government to immediately determine whether a drone or missile destroyed a house in the Lublin Voivodeship, the Polish National Security Bureau reported.
On Tuesday, “Żecpospolita“ published an article stating that a malfunctioning missile from an F-16 aircraft hit a house in the Polish village of Wiryki Wola during the operation to destroy drones that entered the country's airspace.
“Regarding the material of “Żecpospolita“, we inform you that Polish President Karol Nawrocki expects the government to immediately investigate the incident in Wiryki. The government is obliged to use all instruments and institutions to resolve this issue as quickly as possible“, the bureau noted.
Navrotsky warned that he would not allow information to be withheld.
“There is no agreement to withhold information. In the context of disinformation and hybrid warfare, the messages conveyed to the Poles must be verified and confirmed“, the ministry added.
It is emphasized that neither the president nor the National Security Bureau were informed about the incident and the matter was not referred to the National Security Council.
Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosyniak-Kamiś dismissed as false the assumptions that the military is trying to cover up the consequences of the events in question.
“The operational commander of the armed forces, General Maciej Klisz, provided all the information and conclusions resulting from the analysis of the actions taken as a result of the violation of Polish airspace by drones. Representatives of the National Security Bureau, the General Staff of the Polish Army and the Ministry of National Defense have been informed of all incidents.
“The intelligence services are responsible for a full investigation of these events and measures are being taken in accordance with established procedures“, Kosyniak-Kamysz wrote on social networks.
The minister promised that the results and conclusions of the investigation will be announced after its completion.
On Wednesday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that drones, “posing a danger”, had been shot down over Polish territory. According to him, 19 aircraft crossed the air border, coming from Belarus. The politician blamed Moscow for the incident.
