New arrests after the terrorist attack in front of the synagogue in Manchester, the number of detainees is now six - 1

British police announced that they had arrested three more people in connection with the terrorist attack in front of the synagogue in the city of Manchester, BNR reported.

Meanwhile, it became clear that the perpetrator had a criminal record.

Lawrence Taylor, head of the counter-terrorism department in the United Kingdom, told "Sky News" that three more people had been arrested, bringing the total number of detainees to six. A man and two women, aged between 18 and 45, are the three new detainees on suspicion of committing, preparing and inciting acts of terrorism.

New details have emerged about the attack, which killed two people and injured three others, with the perpetrator fatally shot.

Jihad al-Shami was seen acting suspiciously outside the synagogue before being confronted by security guards. He left but returned 15 minutes later to carry out the attack.

Police believe al-Shami may have been influenced by "extreme Islamist ideology", although the "full circumstances" it will "take some time".

While Al-Shami did not appear to be known to counter-terrorism teams, it has emerged that he had a criminal record, including a recent arrest on rape charges, but was released on bail. A former head of the Counter-Terrorism Department commented that the arrest for rape did not mean that the police should have known about the attacker and his intentions.
