At least 44 people have died in the torrential rains that have been pouring over Mexico for several days, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Tropical storms "Priscilla" and "Raymond" caused landslides and flooding in five Mexican states.

According to official government information, 18 people have died in the state of Veracruz, 16 in Hidalgo, 9 in Puebla and one in Querétaro.

President Claudia Sheinbaum is coordinating a national relief plan for 139 cities affected by the flood.

The Mexican army released photos showing soldiers evacuating people with lifeboats, flooded houses and rescuers making their way through flooded streets with water reaching the waist of the rescuers.

"We continue to closely monitor the emergency situation in Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosi, in coordination with the governor and governors, as well as various federal authorities. "The National Emergency Committee is in constant operation mode," Sheinbaum wrote on the social network "Ex".
