After the ceasefire! Israel and Hamas accuse each other of constant violations of the ceasefire - 1

Israel announced that it is preparing to reopen the Rafah border crossing in Gaza with Egypt to allow Palestinians to cross, but did not set a date for this, reports "Reuters".

Israel and "Hamas", however, accused each other of violations of the ceasefire, which was brokered by the United States.

The dispute over the return of the bodies of hostages held by "Hamas" in Gaza, could still derail the truce, along with other key points of the plan that remain unresolved, such as the disarmament of the militants and the future governance of Gaza.

Israel has demanded that Hamas fulfill its obligation to hand over the bodies of the 28 dead hostages. The Islamist faction said it had handed over ten bodies, but Israel noted that one of them was not that of a hostage.

"We will not compromise on this issue and we will spare no effort until the bodies of our hostages are returned, to each and every one of them," an Israeli government spokesman said.

"Hamas" noted that handing over more bodies to Gaza, which has been reduced to a vast rubble of war, would require allowing heavy machinery and earthmoving equipment into the Israeli-blockaded Palestinian enclave.

A senior Hamas official today accused Israel of violating the ceasefire, killing at least 24 people in shootings since last Friday. He said a list of such violations had been handed over to the mediators.

"The occupying power is working day and night to undermine the agreement through its violations on the ground," the official said.

Earlier, the Israeli army said that some Palestinians had ignored warnings not to approach Israeli army positions and that troops had "opened fire to eliminate the threat".

Israel said that the next phase of the 20-point plan to end the war, developed by the administration of US President Donald Trump, calls on "Hamas" to give up its weapons and power, which the group has so far refused to do.

Instead, "Hamas" launched a security crackdown in urban areas liberated from Israeli forces, demonstrating its authority through public executions and clashes with local armed clans.

Today, the Gaza Health Ministry said Israel had released 30 bodies of Palestinians killed during the conflict, bringing the total number of bodies recovered since Monday to 120.

The long-term elements of Trump's plan, including the creation of an international "stabilization force" for the small, densely populated territory and steps towards establishing a Palestinian state - something Israel rejects - have yet to be specified.

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustafa said the Western-backed Palestinian Authority would work with international institutions and partners to handle security, logistics, finances and governance of Gaza.

A forthcoming conference in Egypt on Gaza reconstruction will need to clarify how donor funds will be organised, who will receive them and how they will be distributed.

Hamas drove the Palestinian Authority out of Gaza in a brief civil war in 2007.
