A small plane crashed in eastern Romania, reports TV “Digi24“, reports News.bg.
The pilot died in the incident, who was found dead in the cockpit after a rescue operation.
The machine fell near the town of Bacani, not far from a wooded area on the outskirts of the settlement. The distress signal was sent automatically via the E-CALL system, which activated an alarm to the 112 telephone after losing radio contact with the pilot.
The deceased is a 65-year-old owner of a local wine association. He took off from Suceava and was preparing to land at a private helipad located near his own vineyards. Initial reports suggest that dense fog prevented a safe landing, leading to the tragic incident.
Firefighters and an emergency response team were dispatched to the scene and secured the area. Authorities are now investigating the exact cause of the crash.
