Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special presidential envoy, held meetings with representatives of the administration of US President Donald Trump and will continue the talks on Sunday, a source told RIA Novosti.
“Meetings between Kirill Dmitriev with foreign countries and representatives of the Trump administration took place on October 24 and 25 and will continue on October 26“, the source said.
He did not specify with whom the talks took place.
Dmitriev arrived in New York on Friday. The same day, Axios reported on his possible conversation with Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff in Miami.
On Thursday, Trump announced the cancellation of the meeting with the Russian leader in Budapest, which they had agreed to during a phone call last week. He said he planned to hold it at a future date.
A day earlier, Dmitriev, in an interview with American television, expressed confidence that the talks would take place, but probably later.
The president's press secretary Dmitry Peskov explained that it is difficult to cancel something for which there were no specific agreements, since no deadlines were given.
