Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said a “multipolar“ world is forming and called for “to end“ trade wars. The call came days before the long-awaited meeting between Xi Jinping and Donald Trump in South Korea, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.
The presidents of China and the US are to meet on Thursday in South Korea to try to reach an agreement to end their trade war between their two countries.
During a forum in Beijing today, Wang Yi called for “to end the politicization of economic and trade issues, the artificial fragmentation of global markets and resorting to trade wars and tariff battles“. This was a clear reference to the US protectionist offensive, commented Agence France-Presse.
“The frequent withdrawal from agreements and reneging on commitments, accompanied by the enthusiastic formation of blocs and cliques, have faced unprecedented challenges to the multilateral approach“, added Wang, without naming specific countries.
“The course of history cannot be reversed and a multipolar world is emerging“, the diplomat said.
