An Indian passenger stabbed two teenagers with a fork, hit a female passenger and a crew member, then faked suicide with a firearm during an international flight from Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany, U.S. authorities said today, as quoted by the Associated Press, BTA reported.
The incident occurred on a Lufthansa flight on Saturday, and the plane was diverted and landed in Boston, Massachusetts, where the 28-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to U.S. prosecutors, a 17-year-old passenger on the plane woke up and saw the man standing over him. The man stabbed the teenager in the collarbone with a fork and then stabbed another 17-year-old boy in the head, causing a stab wound.
The man, who entered the United States from India on a student visa, does not have legal immigration status, US authorities said.
No other details about the case were released, including whether the man has a lawyer, and the US Attorney's Office did not respond to a request for comment on the incident, the AP notes.
