Ukraine and Britain were preparing a "large-scale provocation" with a Russian MiG-31 fighter equipped with the "Dagger" system, which they planned to hijack, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced.
The service announced that it had foiled an operation by Ukrainian military intelligence and its British officers to hijack a Russian MiG-31 equipped with the "Dagger" system. According to the FSB, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense tried to recruit Russian pilots, promising them $3 million. The GUR planned to fly the hijacked MiG-31 equipped with the “Dagger“ system, to the NATO base in Constanta, Romania, where it was shot down by air defense forces, the FSB announced.
“The measures taken have thwarted the plans of Ukrainian and British intelligence to organize a large-scale provocation,“ the FSB emphasized.
