A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US leader Donald Trump in Budapest still remains possible. This was stated by the advisor to the Russian president Yuri Ushakov, quoted by TASS, reports News.bg.
“The summit in Budapest is still possible - why not?“, commented Ushakov, without specifying specific dates.
On October 16, the US president announced that after a telephone conversation with the Russian leader, the two had agreed to meet soon in the Hungarian capital. However, the meeting was later postponed as Moscow and Washington failed to reach sufficient agreement to make progress on issues related to the conflict in Ukraine.
Both sides said the meeting would be rescheduled once the necessary conditions were met.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that such a meeting would be mutually beneficial, but that thorough preparatory work was needed before it could take place.
