Serbia will sign a final trade agreement for the construction of the first metro line in Belgrade on December 15 with the French company "Alstom", Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after yesterday's meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, regional television En 1 reported, BTA reported.
Vucic also said the first metro line in the Serbian capital will be ready in 2.5-3 years, B92 specifies. This further shortens the project's timeline, as Finance Minister Sinisa Mali recently set a deadline for the metro to open by the end of 2029.
As the Serbian president announced after the meeting at the Elysee Palace last night, his conversation with Macron lasted three hours and the two discussed "all strategic issues", reports En 1.
“Of course, we discussed Serbia's European path, we can achieve a lot next year, it depends on us, but I believe that the mood in the EU will also be favorable for Serbia's progress,” said Vucic.
He reported that the two discussed all bilateral topics, including joint projects, investments in Serbia and cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.
The Serbian president revealed that his country is purchasing a supercomputer from France, which will be very valuable and unique in Southeast Europe.
Vučić and Macron also discussed military-technical cooperation. “We talked about (the surface-to-air missiles) “Mistral“ and missiles for (the fighter jets) “Rafal“, but we also discussed all other key bilateral agreements“, Vučić added, noting that he and Macron also discussed the geopolitical situation.
“I fought for the interests of our country, I pointed out all the challenges we face, and I believe that in the future we will have a sincere ally and friend in France. I thanked Emmanuel Macron for that“, Vučić said after the conversation.
