Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy announced on the social network "Ex" today that his book "The Diary of a Prisoner", published by the "Fayard" publishing house, owned by the conservative billionaire Vincent Bollore, will be released on December 10, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

"There is nothing to see or do in prison. I forget silence - it does not exist in the "Sante" prison, where there is a lot to hear. Alas, the noise there is incessant. Just like in the desert, in prison one focuses mainly on one's inner life," wrote the former head of state, who was imprisoned for three weeks after being convicted of illegally financing his presidential campaign by Libya.

On September 25 of this year, 70-year-old Nicolas Sarkozy was sentenced at first instance to 5 years in prison, with the court ordering his pre-trial detention on charges of participating in a criminal organization. He was also ordered to pay a fine of 100,000 euros.

Sarkozy immediately appealed his sentence and will be tried again - by the appeals court in Paris, from March 16 to June 3 next year.

The former president, who claims from the very beginning that he is innocent, was detained for three weeks in the "Sante" prison. This is unprecedented in the history of the French Republic and has sparked lively debate, AFP notes.

Nicolas Sarkozy was released from prison on November 10 by the appeals court in Paris. The court considered that there was no risk of him fleeing the country and placed him under judicial supervision. A few hours after his release, Sarkozy wrote in "Ex" that he would prepare his appeal to prove his innocence. "The truth will prevail," he assured.

According to the judges, the provisional execution of his sentence was justified by the "extremely serious factual composition" of the case, and according to Nicolas Sarkozy, it was motivated by "hatred."

Already finally convicted in the "wiretapping" case, for which he received a one-year prison sentence, the former French president will find out on November 26 whether the French Court of Cassation will confirm the 6-month prison sentence he received in the second instance in the "Bigmalion" case, on charges of illegal financing of his presidential campaign in 2012.
