A Russian missile strike on a dam in Kharkiv region has cut off a key supply route for Ukrainian forces, the mayor of the town of Pechenigy Oleksandr Gusarov said on Telegram, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
The road to the Pechenigy dam, located on the Seversky Donets River, leads to the frontline areas near Vovchansk, Velikiy Burluk and Kupyansk, where Ukrainian forces are under heavy pressure. According to Gusarov, this road has already been closed.
According to other reports in Ukrainian channels on Telegram, A bridge over a reservoir near the village of Stary Saltiv was also destroyed.
Many bridges and dams in the region were destroyed in the early months of Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
In 2023, Russian forces blew up the Novaya Kakhovka dam on the lower Dnieper River in southern Ukraine. This caused a devastating flood that claimed many lives, caused serious material damage, and left Europe's largest nuclear power plant without water.
