US warplanes have carried out their second airstrike in the past few hours against Islamic State positions in northern Syria, Al-Hadath TV reported.
According to the channel, the US Air Force has “carried out a new wave of attacks against ISIS hideouts and headquarters“ located in northern Syria. The main strikes were on ISIS positions in the Deir ez-Zor province.
“Al-Hadath“ also reports that US aircraft carried out airstrikes against terrorist bases in the rural areas of the provinces of Homs and Raqqa, as well as near the city of Tadmor, on the outskirts of which is located the historical and architectural complex “Palmyra“. It was in this area that two US National Guard soldiers and an American translator were killed on December 13.
Before the start of the night operation against ISIS, according to the channel, the US military had identified at least 50 ISIS targets in northern Syria. There is no information yet whether the strikes have hit all previously identified terrorist positions.
Bombardments in northern Syria have been suspended, but US Air Force aircraft continue to patrol the area.
