The Ukrainian and US delegations in Florida have agreed to prepare for a meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump in Washington in January 2026, announced the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov.
“We agreed to continue consultations in the near future and prepare for the next stages of the dialogue, in particular, meetings with Zelensky and Trump in Washington in January“, he wrote on Telegram.
On December 28, Trump hosted Zelensky at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Florida. After the talks, Zelensky announced that the US and Ukrainian teams will meet next week to finalize all the issues discussed. He also said that Trump planned to meet with the Ukrainian delegation and European leaders in January.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed that the European Union has become the main obstacle to peace in Ukraine. The head of Russian diplomacy noted that Brussels does not hide its plans to prepare for war with Russia.
