The defense of NATO's eastern flank in the event of potential Russian aggression would cost at least 1.2 trillion euros ($1.42 trillion), Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said in a speech to parliament today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
"The defense of the countries on NATO's eastern flank in the event of potential Russian aggression would cost at least 1.2 trillion. euros, which is 24 times more than Poland's defense budget," Sikorski told MPs.
Washington remains Warsaw's most important partner in defense cooperation, and Poland has been and will remain a loyal ally of the United States, but it cannot be treated like a "fool," the minister added.
